HARSH BARGE (härsh – bärj)
n. Clashing elements of sound and color. A cacophany of the senses.

Oh hi. My name is Mito, and I’m a photographer and visual journalist in Washington, DC where I work as a multimedia producer for NPR. I get to make things like photos and videos and put them on the interwebs. My pet project is Field Recordings.

My background is in the unlikely field of science. I received my BA in Molecular & Cell Biology, Neurobiology at UC Berkeley and then worked for three years in a lab at Northwestern in Chicago before making the move to photography. I joined the master’s program in photojournalism at the Missouri School of Journalism and I haven’t looked back since.

I am most excited about the potential for rich-media and multimedia story telling, and I have a big fat crush on This American Life and Michel Gondry. I enjoy harmony, discordance and corndogs.
